Rev. Ignatius Madumere, OP is a native of Nigeria. He was ordained a Dominican priest in the Province of St. Joseph the Worker of Nigeria & Ghana in 1987.
Father Ignatius studied in Rome for three years before completing his Master’s In Washington, DC at the Institute of Marriage and Family, Dominican House of Studies. He went on to earn a Doctorate of Moral Theology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
He has “worn many hats in many places” ranging from professor to hospital chaplain to parish priest, while also serving in many capacities within his Dominican province. Father Ignatius recently served in the Diocese of Harrisburg, PA and is currently a Chaplain aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point where he serves active-duty marines and sailors and their families. He is the pastor of the Catholic Community aboard Cherry Point.
Father Ignatius obtained US Citizenship and serves stateside with IAAM as a retreat speaker and confessor, and among IAAM as spiritual director. As a Dominican priest, his missionary heart has served to strengthen IAAM in its mission spirit. Father delights in Psalm 139 and, in recognition of our inherent dignity, he exhorts us with the words of St Catherine of Sienna, “Be who God created you to be and you will set the world on fire.”
