Jordan Segura has been a full-time missionary in Costa Rica since 2009. He’s been with IAAM since its inception.
Jordan began serving through sports ministry. It was during that time he met a teenager who was on a soccer mission in Costa Rica. Though Jordan was at that time a serious cyclist, an accident would compel him to concentrate on full-time mission through a love for coaching “the beautiful game.” Jordan’s relational personality endeared him to that young man, who became one of the founders of IAAM and the rest is pretty much history.
“Can you imagine?” a favorite saying of Jordan’s, has been repeated over and over through the course of IAAM history. Much of what was indeed imagined, has come to fruition in Costa Rica and throughout IAAM because of Jordan’s commitment to serving the Lord, defending the dignity of His people in Costa Rica and in all of humanity.
In addition to serving directly in areas of great need, Jordan’s passion is to receive groups and individuals on short-term mission. These short-term missioners come alongside him participating in the work of IAAM-Costa Rica in and among vulnerable populations. Jordan embraces IAAM’s social and ecumenical character (charisms). Mission teams, including sports “teams,” are welcome throughout the year. Special times of service in Costa Rica include experiencing the Romeria and Holy Week.
Jordan incorporates IAAM’s deMANd™ and Sports Outreach among the platforms utilized to reach individual minds and hearts as well as the culture at large. IAAM-CR establishes projects to restore the image of God in man in prisons, with refugees, among children, and with others in areas of vulnerability in the human condition.
